A not-to-be missed concert bringing together exciting new talent with established artists for a unique collaboration, 22 April 2025. Read on to discover how it all started, and our journey to the biggest event in Future Talent's histroy
The vision for writing a stage show and album to mark our 20th anniversary came when our young musicians convened at the VOCES8 Centre in August 2023 for a dedicated week of composing, led by producer James Hawkins with support from VOCES8’s Paul Smith and Indian Classical musician Arun Ghosh.
In January 2024, ahead of recording the album, Future Talent ambassador and star cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason worked with three of the young composers and their ensembles to help refine and polish their performances.
Recordings took place at various locations across the country. We visited School Farm Studios in Colchester, went to Leeds with the musicians of South Asian Arts UK, visited Manchester to record with the Hallé and even had a drone record shots at the Yehudi Menuhin School.
Guest artists on the album include the Hallé, VOCES8, and the National Children's Choir of Great Britain
Each album piece has an accompanying music video, which we'll be releasing in the lead up to our concert, RISE: Past, Present and Future Talent.
The world premiere of two pieces from the Future Talent album took place at the Midsummer Gala in June 2024. Guests got a small taste of what's to come in April 2025 at the Roundhouse, where the album will debut in it's entirety.
