Future Talent is thrilled to announce that 17-year-old violinist Teagan, from Somerset, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Coombs Scholarship.

Teagan has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to her craft, and we look forward to supporting her musical journey over the coming year.

On receiving the award, Teagan said ‘I am deeply honoured to have been awarded the Coombs Scholarship this year. The team at Future Talent are so supportive, and I am certain that the friendships I have made with other musicians they work with, shall continue to flourish throughout my career. So far, I have been involved in a whole host of incredible performance opportunities and recording projects with Future Talent - Playing at the Royal Academy of Music, Yehudi Menuhin Hall and the Rothschild Sky Pavilion, as well as attending a masterclass with Sheku Kanneh-Mason. I am so excited to see the amazing things that this year will bring!’

The Coombs Scholarship, created in 2007 in memory of Future Talent’s first administrator, Lucy Coombs, honours her enthusiasm and commitment to the charity’s mission.

The special Named Award provides not only an increased financial bursary of £2,000, but also unique solo performance opportunities and the chance to be an ambassador for young musicians.

Past recipients include double bassist Toby (2011),saxophonist Rob (2016), and cellist Willard (2019). Previous recipients of the Coombs Scholarship have gone on to become professional musicians.

Teagan joins this impressive list of musicians and will continue to carry forward the legacy of Lucy Coombs through her dedication to music.

We are excited to see where Teagan’s musical journey takes her and are proud to support her development as she aspires to a future career in music.
