This award, launched in 2021, celebrates outstanding young musicians aged 14–18 who excel in Indian classical instruments, providing £2,000 of support to nurture their talent and help cover essential music costs.
Sukhraj’s journey began in 2018 when he started learning the Santoor and Tabla, later joining Yorkshire Young Musicians to refine his skills and confidence. Since then, he has performed at major showcases including Sounds of Asia, Sangeet Mahotsav, Musicathon, and Baithak: Legacy, often sharing the stage with renowned Indian classical musicians. His dedication has also led him to study piano and perform with South Asian Arts-uk.
Reflecting on this honour, Sukhraj shared: "I am very grateful and honoured to be receiving the Indian Classical Award and I look forward to any opportunities this coming year. I hope to further advance my learning and playing of the Santoor and Tabla and thank you to Future Talent for giving me this award."
Congratulations Sukhraj!
