Nahuel and Yuma, 16-year-old twin brothers from London, are rising stars in both performance and composition. Nahuel, a bassoonist and pianist, and Yuma, a percussionist and drummer, have already achieved Distinctions (Nahuel in Bassoon and Yuma in Drum Kit) and have performed in prestigious ensembles, including Chineke! Junior Orchestra and the Tomorrow Warriors Young Ensemble. Two of their compositions have been previously performed by the East London Academy alongside London Symphony Orchestra musicians. They are also London Philharmonic Orchestra Junior Artists 2024. Their piece “Patterns” reflects their deep understanding of rhythm and melody, with Nahuel noting: “We wanted to create a piece based on rhythmic and melodic motifs. The marimba carries a recurring pattern in the first half, symbolizing regularity, while the second half shifts into an irregular time signature, evoking the unpredictability of ocean waves.” Guided by mentors like James Hawkins and Arun Ghosh, their collaborative process brought these abstract patterns to life, resulting in a piece rich in rhythmic complexity and instrumental layering.
